Raw Results 10/21/13

Raw Results from Memphis, TN:

The show opened with recaps of what happened on Raw with Cody Rhodes and Goldust winning the WWE tag team titles.  Footage was also shown of Big Show knocking out Brad Maddox on SmackDown.  Triple H and Stephanie were in the ring to start the show, talking about the Hell in a Cell PPV matches.  They started to talk about Bryan vs. Orton in HIAC for the WWE title, but Big Show came on the big screen to interrupt.  He asked HHH why he's so hostile and brought up how he is suing HHH for the rest of the money on his WWE contract, and slander.  He said HHH must've woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but there isn't a right side when you wake up to Steph every morning.  Stephanie told Show to shut up, then had his feed cut off the screen.  Triple H tried to introduce the first competitor - Dean Ambrose, but instead Daniel Bryan's music came on and he arrived for the opening match.

Daniel Bryan defeated Dean Ambrose via submission in a non-title match.  Late in the match, Bryan rolled Ambrose back inside the ring after a suicide dive on the outside.  He hit a missile dropkick on Ambrose, then went for several kicks, before missing on one.  Ambrose went for the roll up, but Bryan countered with the Yes Lock to make him tap out.

CM Punk arrived to the ring after a break to discuss his match against Ryback at HIAC PPV.  He brought up how the structure defines legacies, and said his legacy will be defined by what he does to Paul Heyman once he gets his hands on him.  Punk said he plans to put Ryback to sleep on Sunday and then corner Heyman to watch him squirm, and smash his face into the structure.  He said Heyman doesn't know what it means to be "extreme" but he'll find out about it Sunday.

Shawn Michaels paid a visit to HHH and Steph backstage.  He asked Hunter if he felt Bryan could become WWE champion, and HHH said he could, but he's just not "the face of the WWE."  He said "we're not a wheatgrass company," and HBK told him they said they same thing about the two of them years ago.  Steph started going off about how Big Show got on the air earlier.  HBK brought up how when he and HHH used to do it to Vince, she thought it was funny.  She said it was funny, but Show is fired, and things are different around here now.  HBK said he noticed, but luckily one of them hasn't had to grow up.  HBK told them he was going to go have some fun.

Santino Marella defeated Heath Slater via pinfall.  Santino came to the ring with Great Khali and Hornswoggle, all dressed as Elvis.  During the match, Santino took control and reached into his jumpsuit for the Cobra sock puppet.  He put it on and went for the Cobra, but Slater avoided it.  Slater went to the ropes and jumped off at Santino, only to get hit by The Cobra on his way down, giving Santino the pinfall.  Post-match, Santino got on the mic and had the crowd chant for the king in Memphis - Jerry Lawler.  They all danced Elvis-style up on the commentators table for the crowd.

Randy Orton defeated Dolph Ziggler via pinfall.  Late in the match, Orton suplexed Ziggler onto his head.  He hit the draping DDT from the ropes, then set up for the RKO.  Ziggler dropkicked Orton away, but moments later Orton hit the quick RKO to get the win.

The Bella Twins defeated AJ Lee & Tamina via pinfall.  Late in the match, Brie went for a kick on AJ who moved away, so Brie kicked Tamina instead.  AJ went for a quick rollup, but Brie kicked out and faceplanted AJ for the pinfall win.  Michael Cole noted it's the second time Brie has defeated the divas champ by pin now.

Backstage, Renee Young interviewed Paul Heyman who was standing by with Ryback and Curtis Axel.  Heyman said he's cold-hearted and "in control" and Punk won't get past his "monster, Ryback."

They showed a video package which covered the relationship between HBK and Daniel Bryan, with HBK as Bryan's wrestling trainer.

Luke Harper & Erick Rowan defeated The Miz & Kofi Kingston via pinfall.  During the late part of the match, Miz made a hot tag to bring in Kofi.  Kofi went on a tear, hitting various moves, but he hit Trouble in Paradise on Rowan.  Harper was able to level Kofi with a clothesline to get the win.  Post-match, Harper & Rowan beat up Miz a bit.  Bray Wyatt got up from his rocking chair to come into the ring, as Harper and Rowan put Miz into the ropes.  Wyatt said he wouldn't convince Miz that hell was real, but would lead him to the gates.

CM Punk & Big E Langston defeated Ryback & Curtis Axel via pinfall.  During the late part of this contest, Punk came in and cleared Ryback out of the ring.  Langston was legal and hit the Big Ending on Axel to pick up the win.  Punk chased Heyman into the crowd, then celebrated a bit with the fans.

The Real Americans defeated Tons of Funk via submission.  Cesaro put Brodus into his swinging Cesaro swing late in this one.  He tagged in Swagger who came in and applied the ankle lock on Clay to make him tap out.  Post-match, Zeb Colter produced a bullwhip he was carrying with him and gave his new catchphrase "And that's no bull."  He got the crowd to say "We the People."

Cole said Curtis Axel will defend the Intercontinental Title against Big E Langston during the Hell in a Cell kickoff show online Sunday.

They showed a video package covering John Cena's career.  JBL wondered if he was returning prematurely from injury.  They showed what Alberto Del Rio did to Josh Matthews on SmackDown, putting him in the cross armbar submission.

The Usos vs. Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns ended as a No contest in a #1 Contender's match.  Goldust and Cody Rhodes were guest commentators.  Late in this one, Ambrose was on the outside taunting Cody, then knocked his headset off.  The Usos and Shield all got involved on the outside, so the ref called for the bell.  Post-match, Shield attacked Goldust and were giving him a beatdown at one point, so Usos and Rhodes made the save.  JBL wondered who the #1 contenders were.

Triple H and Stephanie waited in the ring where it was set up for the contract signing with table and chairs.  Orton was out first, followed by Bryan.  Orton said he had to give Bryan credit for continuing to get up after his beatings.  He said he won't get up from the beating at HIAC.  Orton listed off other stars he's beat inside the structure, saying he's entering this match with the utmost confidence, and then signed the contract.  Bryan said Orton was only the champion due to the help of Triple H and The Shield.  He thanked him for pushing him to be more than a B+ player, and for exposing himself as a corporate pansy.  He thanked Orton for exposing Triple H and Stephanie as narcissistic spoiled brats.  Bryan signed off on the contract.

Triple H spoke next, and compared Bryan to guys like Edge, RVD and Chris Jericho.  He said they were all talented and popular, but never "the one."  He said if any of those guys had been "the face of WWE" back in their day, they'd probably all be working for Ted Turner right now.  HHH then said Shawn Michaels shouldn't have wasted his time training Bryan.

Michaels spoke up, saying he didn't waste his time, and then questioned what happened to the HHH that drove a tank into WCW's event, or played strip poker on Raw.  Shawn said he doesn't care if HHH is COO or that he trained Bryan, he said he cares about doing what's best for the business he loves and the people who voted for him as special referee.  Orton tried to suggest that Michaels had an agenda, but HHH said "Shawn will do what's right."

Michaels asked HHH what he has against Bryan, if it's because he's smaller than him or had an insanely grotesque beard?  He finished by asking if it's because after all HHH has put him through, Bryan continued to prove him wrong.  The crowd was chanting Yes, but Orton told Bryan he knows he can't beat him because he sees it in his eyes.  He said at HIAC he's going to take him straight to hell.  Orton started a yes chant.

Just then, cameras caught a semi-truck coming into the building.  Big Show was shown behind the wheel and drove through the backstage area and into the arena.  Show opened the door and stood on the edge of the cab to lead a "Yes" chant from the crowd.  He told Orton to turn around.  Orton turned and Bryan hit him with a move.  The show closed with Bryan leading a "Yes" chant as he backed up the ramp to the stage.
